Vegas Day 1 – Neon by Sunlight

I left yesterday at 1:15, picked up by my good friends from Rapid Rover. As soon as the guy picked me up he said “Hey you wouldnt happen to have any beers in there would you?” Ha Ha – funny for him, not so funny for me. At this point I was already nervous.

So on to the airport nothing eventful here…

Check in blah blah blah- had a lighter confiscated which I secretly tried to hide becuase I despise matches.However youll be happy to know our trumped up security measures are working efficiently and all lighters are being removed before boarding. It really does give me some sort of comfort, if they didnt find it I would have been wondering the whole flight what else got on.

4:10 finally boarding- get on..get cozy- next thing I know I hear some dude wretch.

Oh great , hes all messed up, Im totally getting bird flu or tuburculosis or some other communicable type disease. So everyone’s screaming MEDIC etc. finally after Rueben and Mary wake from thier leviathan haze they call the Phila EMT.

An hour later the guy gets put onto an ambulance.
Emergency training needs as much attn as lighters and then we’d be in good shape.

NOW we are ready to go … but God has a few more tricks up his sleeve for me, we are 20th in line for take off. Now Ive been delayed before, but 2 hours worrying about viral bacteria in the air next to the Russian who practically screamed when I closed my glasses case and it made a BIG SNAP noise(definietly not cut out for the KGB) it was more than I could take.

Now we fly- Reuben and Mary were our hosts stewardes’s flight attendants whatever and those 2 put together couldnt figure out how to use the damn speaker there was all kinds of feed back. The movie was ARE WE DONE YET- and I came to the conclusion I was and snuggled up with a new book I bought from the MSNBC store. Collection of stories by Kim Edwards the same woman who wrote The Memory Keepers Daughter which I loved.(but Im also the girl who reads the back of the best sellers at Barnes and Nobles and tries to pick one that wont make me vomit)Anyway it was all worth it when we flew over the Grand Canyon… it took my breath away. Jane and I look at the Time Magazine 100 most beautiful places and that is one we both love. I cant wait to take her some day. Its one of ther most amazing things viewing the world from that vantage point, it all looks like this perfect patchwork quilt with perfect grids and circular farmland.

Soooo we landed and I got a cab to the hotel, checked in , went downstairs and got a 10.00 vodka and went to bed. This morning I missed the company breakfast becuase I thought it was at 8:00 here it ended at 8:00 so I worked for a bit and then went out on my own for some adventure.

Got some trinkets and toys for the kiddies and a fabulous pair of walking shoes/sneaks from the walking store. Thats one thing I would recommend to anyone coming here even before gambling money COMFY SHOES. Last year I had blisters for 2 weeks.

Anyways I was sitting on a bench in the most amazing and at the same time grotesque mall(grotesque becuase its about a mile long of high end consumerism and I was totally sucked in). There was this guy next to me talking on his phone giving directions to someone on the other end. “Open the closet, Turn the light on, OPen the black case, is the gun in there?” At this point I walked off briskly, didnt want to end up being supboena’d for overhearing details of a crime.
